German Rotax Piston Fountain Pen
Way back in the 1980s, if you do remember, school students would very much love to have their own set of fountain pens, just because their classmates have one of those ˇ°Parkerˇ±. I myself, is a lover of fountain pen when I was young and being poor, can only confined to purchasing fountain pens manufactured in China and India. German pens at that time cost around US$2, a hefty sum for a poor schoolboy like me. Among the famous German pens like Mont Blxx, Pelikxx and Lamxx, one brand becomes famous among the school boys because it is affordable ¨C Yes you get it, it is Rotax. It is getting harder these days to get a mint Rotax fountain pen but it is my luck to find 3 of them in a close down store here in singapore. These Rotax pen are still mint with their original 89 sticker on their barrel. The clip is gold filled and the barrel are hardly breakable. I suspect that modern fountain pen has a lower quality plastic made because this rotax pen seems shockproof to me ( I dropped it many many times but it is still functioning well) These Rotax measures 13.5cm long and suck in a great deal of ink with their piston filled system. The ink reservoir is clearly visible near the end of the barrel (towards the nib), so you will know how much ink is remaining before your next filled up. The iridium-plated nib is ever so fine that you can write your comments between lines when reading your story book, or simply for note taking. Remember that this pen is made just for that, so its material is made to withstand under all hostile environments. The cap is screw on (not slip on), and I have included a sample of what comes out of this pen. The writing is used from my own Rotax pen, not the mint one. If you do not have one of these Rotax in your collection, you are missing out one of these greatest luxuries of writing with a nostalgic 70s school boy fountain Pen.
